The Buddy Family Program
Respect & Care
To better introduce new students to our school community and strengthen the bonds between our existing students, we have created a Buddy Family Program consisting of “families” of students from various grades. Each of these families are led by an academic teacher.
This program serves as an amazing opportunity for older students to step up as leaders, and for younger students to build a social and emotional support system among their peers. Students are encouraged to utilize their Buddy Families for academic help, team building, and friendship, unrestricted by grade level.
Outside of Academics
Buddy Families meet on a regular basis to provide an opportunity for the students to interact and mentor each other. Older students are responsible for the younger students within their Buddy Family at our weekly Mass, on field trips, during Buddy Family Activity Days, and for other special occasions.
Buddy Family Activity Days take place one Friday per month, where teachers lead these families in various creative activities. This once again promotes leadership and team bonding within the families.
Our Buddy Family Program culminates in the annual “Buddy Mass” held on the last day of school for our 8th grade students. Their younger buddies are the prayer leaders at Mass, and describe in their own words and projected pictures what the Buddy Family relationship has meant to them.
It is a treasured moment for all our graduates and their families.
