High School Guidance - Resurrection School - Sunnyvale

This is whereLEADERSHIP BEGINS

High School Guidance

The Resurrection School junior high school teachers actively support the 8th grade students as they apply to various private high schools in the area or prepare to attend one of the local public schools.

At the end of each school year, an on-site information night is held for parents of 7th Graders, where all the details of the high school application process are reviewed with parents.  We also distribute the calendar of events, as received from the Diocese of San Jose, including regionally located high school information nights and high school open houses.

Teachers work with parents and students to accommodate attendance at high school shadows days and ensure the students stay on top of their academic coursework.  In Language Arts, students will receive support and feedback for their application essays.  In Math and Language Arts, teachers review with and help prepare students for the High School Placement Test (HSPT), which they take in January of their 8th grade year.  Teachers work together to write one letter of recommendation to accompany each application, so that the letter strongly reflects the diverse talents, interests, and strengths of the student.  Finally, our staff celebrates with each student as they complete the high school application process and receive their acceptance letters, knowing that a Resurrection School graduate is well prepared for the journey that lies ahead of them!
