What Makes Resurrection Special

When selecting a school and community for your child and family, many factors need to be taken into account. Resurrection School differentiates itself through:

“Walking the Journey Together,…

For years, Resurrection School has based its organization, systems, and community on the theme of “Walking the Journey Together.” This theme aligns with our school’s and community’s core belief that Resurrection is a family of students, parents, and staff. All three groups support one another, and all actions taken on campus are to keep this idea in mind.

While the first part of the theme stays consisting each year, the second changes. For the 2024-2025 school year, the complete school theme is “Walking the Journey Together, Moving in New Formations.” The second part of this theme references our unique reorganization of our classrooms, as well as our introduction of Buddy Families this year.

…Moving in New Formations”

With our TK/Kindergarten, 1st/2nd, and 3rd/4th combination classes, our students, parents, and staff have made a commitment to embrace the unique opportunities that come with this classroom system. With Buddy Families, our students have quickly shown their love of interacting with an entire group of multi-age buddies, rather than just having one assigned.

Throughout the year, the Resurrection staff and students celebrate this theme with Theme Apparel Days, where students are invited to attend the school day in a themed t-shirt rather than their usual uniform. Students also engage in monthly Buddy Family Activity Days, where they spend a Friday afternoon participating in a fun and creative activity with their Buddy Family.

Our Unique Features

✓ The hallmark of our education is our faith, our Catholic values and our weekly Mass. Resurrection School is one of the few Catholic schools in the Diocese of San Jose to attend Mass weekly, providing our students the opportunity to practice their faith with their peers and to participate as prayer leaders of the weekly celebration.

✓ Our strong academic program expands our curriculum to include foreign language, life skills, values, fine arts, and technology into the daily curriculum. We are fully accredited by the Western Catholic Educational Association, and we have strong standardized scores at all grade levels.

✓ Our innovative approach incorporates the use of technology in the classroom. All students in TK-8th grade are assigned an iPad.

✓ Our enrichment classes include Spanish twice per week for all grades except for 5th (which is one weekly extended class). Music is offered once per week in TK – 5th grade, art is offered biweekly for all grades, and P.E. is offered twice per week for all grades. Life Skills classes, which feature guest speakers from various career paths, are offered once per week for 6th-8th graders.

✓ Our classroom sizes enable our teachers to connect with our students on a deeper level. Rather than getting lost in a sea of classmates, they have the opportunity to be leaders in the classroom. Our class sizes means our teachers are able to give your student much more individualized attention, and can more readily cater to their specific needs. Students are known by name not only to their teacher and classmates, but by everyone at the school.

✓ Our values shine with our strong Buddy Family system matching students of various grades together. This program continues throughout the child’s tenure at Resurrection School and encourages our students to be thoughtful, unselfish, and understanding with their younger buddies. The bonds that develop are evident as many high school graduates return for their buddies’ sacraments, celebrations and other special occasions.

✓ Our large 10 acre campus encompasses several grassy areas for recess, P.E. and after-school sports play.  Our parking lot is large enough to accommodate parents in the mornings and afternoons.

✓ Our number one strength is our community, our students, our staff, clergy, families and alumni. Feedback from many families who have moved out of the area is to “treasure your community at Resurrection; it is a special place full of love and caring individuals.”
