Mrs. Lourdes Morantes-Mieses

Spanish Teacher (TK – 5th Grade)
Has been teaching at Resurrection since: 2016

Mrs. Morante-Mieses is a native Spanish-speaking teacher born and raised in Lima, Perú.  Being a cradle catholic, she and her husband worked for marriage encounters, family ministry, and confirmation and baptism programs at her Parrish in Perú.  She was the founder and director of a catechetical program from 3 to 10 years old in her community neighborhood in Pueblo Libre, Perú, for more than 5 years.

In 2000 Mrs. Morante-Mieses, her husband Jorge Mieses and her children María Lourdes and Jorge Luis, moved to California to join her extended family.

Mrs. Morante-Mieses has over 20 years in the educational field.  She started teaching English at Colegio Santa Maria, Lima, Perú. Since her move to California she has been teaching Spanish.  Mrs. Morante-Mieses teaches both in-curriculum and after school Spanish classes with IES since 2014 and 2016 was her first year at Resurrection.  She feels really blessed to be part of such a wonderful, caring and loving group of people at Resurrection School.  She is very pleased to share her language with young people eager to learn.  She loves to teach Spanish since she believes that the benefits of learning a second language not only help on student’s linguistic abilities but on their cognitive and creative abilities as well.

Mrs. Morante-Mieses holds a Bachelor’s degree in Radio, TV, film and Theater from San Jose State University, CA.  She is a mixed media painter and exhibiting artist.  Her works are displayed in galleries through out San Jose, CA.  She teaches private art classes, in English and Spanish, at her studio in San Jose.

Her background of art and languages allows her to incorporate her skills into her classes for a well-rounded cultural experience.
