Mrs. Julie Markley
Spanish Teacher (6th-8th Gr.) and Athletic Director
Has been teaching at Resurrection since: 2005
Education: Bachelor of Science degree
In 2005 I began teaching middle school Spanish at Resurrection, and five years later became the Athletic Director. In addition, I teach middle school Physical Education here. One of my four children attends Resurrection and three are graduates of Resurrection. I really enjoy working at Resurrection School because everyone is so kind and friendly. I love that the students are eager and willing to learn. They are always focused on the task at hand and not concerned about what they may be doing later.
I was born and raised in Redwood City, CA. I attended Saint Francis High School and received my BS at Cal Poly Pomona. I later received my teaching credential at Notre Dame de Namur in Belmont. I have been teaching Spanish and physical education for 25 years. I have also coached 6 different high school sports. In the summer I am a sports camp leader/coach for children 5 - 12 years of age. I live in Sunnyvale and have been married for 26 years. I have three sons, a daughter, a golden retriever and a tortoiseshell kitten.
The best advice ever given to me was by my college softball coach John Scolinos. He said two very important things, well many actually, “surround yourself with good people” and “do what makes you happy.” So much wisdom.
My favorite hobbies include being with my family, reading, scrapbooking, taking pictures, cooking/baking and watching my children play sports.
