Mr. Donovan Williams

Middle School Science Teacher

I have more than ten years of experience working with middle school students and I have spent the last seven years teaching S.T.E.M. inspired science. I believe that each student is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow. As an educator, I realize that each student has individual academic needs that must be addressed to ensure success. It is my goal as teacher to help students meet their full potential by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and encourages an atmosphere of collaboration and cooperation. In our competitive society, it is important for students to not only receive a solid education but also gain critical thinking skills that can be applied to real-world problems.

I’m a product of the Diocese of San Jose catholic school system. I attended St. Leo’s the Great for elementary school, where I was an altar boy, and played on a variety of sports teams. I then went on to graduate from Archbishop Mitty high school, where I was a member of the men’s varsity swimming and diving team. I completed my undergraduate degree in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Ethnic Studies from San Francisco State University. While attending San Francisco State I interned as a lobbyist for Silicon Valley Leadership Group. I started my teaching career at Learning Legends where I lead an after-school enrichment program that focused on developing math and science skills. I have spent the last four years teaching middle school science at a local Catholic school where I received the Katharine Drexel Blended Learning Award for my commitment to S.T.E.M. in the classroom. I am currently continuing my education by pursuing my master’s degree in education at Santa Clara University.

I have many hobbies and interests outside of my professional career. For years, I have enjoyed on hiking, swimming, adventure running, and snowboarding. I’ve been coaching youth athletics for over ten years where my passion for athletics flourishes. I also love spending time with my wife and two young children. I truly believe that in the future we will not be able to separate technology and education. The blending of these two disciplines will give our students a competitive edge in the future job market. I love my job and there is absolutely nothing else I’d rather be doing.
