Student Activities

Student Council

Students in 6th – 8th grade are elected by the student body to represent them in the leadership of the school.  Student Council members hold offices of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Religion Commissioner, Spirit Commissioner, and two General Commissioner positions.  Three teacher mentors work with the Student Council at weekly meetings to plan events, address issues, and provide support to the school.  The purpose of Student Council is to serve as positive role models, to demonstrate good leadership, and to develop school spirit,  as well as being a ministry of service to the school community.  The Student Council coordinates activities such as the annual talent show, spirit week, community outreach, and recycling efforts to benefit our school, our community and our world.

Band Program

The Music School located next door to Resurrection School, which is not affiliated with Resurrection, offers a beginning, intermediate, and advanced band program for students in 4th through 8th grades on Wednesday afternoons, our early dismissal day.  Information on specific times is sent out at the beginning of the year.  Students perform at Resurrection for the Christmas program, and the spring talent show.

Spiffy Program

Resurrection students take pride in the school and following one of our student learning expectations of being an Earth Protector, they clean up the school grounds on a daily basis earning the entire student body a “Spiffy Number”.  When the total reaches twenty spiffy days, an out-of-uniform day is awarded.

After-school Programs

Soccer Shots, an outside organization offers weekly soccer lessons on the school grounds for students in K – 2nd grade.

A Robotics club is offered for students in 7th & 8th grades culminating in a fully-built and operational robot.  The students write their first BASIC program, then advance in programming to learn concepts of variables, counters, for/while loops, and sub-routines.  Students install and test simple LED circuits that required the use of resistors and general purpose IO.  The robot they assemble includes a chassis, wheels, servos, and the motherboard, and the final result is used in a maze competition held during Science Day on Campus.

Parent volunteers for students in grades K – 4th grade, support both Cub Scouts and Girl Scout troops.  Look around the school grounds and you can find numerous Eagle Scout projects!

Science Day

Resurrection School hosts an annual Science Day for all students in K – 8th grades.   This is a student-run, student-produced event focusing on a different theme each year.  Older students build balloon-powered cars with their younger buddies, and demonstrate the use of student built solar ovens, and explain to younger students the physics of gravity with their student-built roller coasters.

Middle School Dances for 7th & 8th grade

7th and 8th graders attend dances with the other Diocesan schools at various times throughout the year.  Resurrection School typically hosts the annual October dance, and school chaperones are present at all school dances.   Students must maintain a certain grade point average and conduct grade to attend these dances or to participate in after-school sports.
