Admissions Criteria

Resurrection School Admission Policy
It is a responsibility of Resurrection School to provide a Catholic elementary education for children of registered members of Resurrection Parish.

Resurrection School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, national and ethnic origin.

On the average, Resurrection School's class sizes are kept consciously lower than the guidelines established by the Diocese of San Jose limiting classes to 35 students. Our primary grades average 29-32 students per class, and our upper grades average 27-29 per class.

Where there are more applicants than places for any particular class, the following system of priorities will apply:

1. Current students already enrolled in Resurrection School.
2. Siblings of existing students at Resurrection School.
3. Children of an active parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection.
4. Children of any other parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection.
5. Any other Catholic.
6. An other applicant

Non-Catholic and Out of Parish Students
Where two applicants appear to be equally qualified for a place, an interview is required with the Principal to reach a decision based on additional factors including, but not limited to:

  • letters of recommendation.
  • religious background.
  • academic standing.

All applications for enrollment for the next school year must meet the registration deadline, which will be set by the school. This applies to both returning and new students.

Prior to the registration deadline, if the number of applications received for any given class will cause the number of students to exceed the approved limits, then they will be placed on a waiting list, ordered according to the priorities stated above.

Applications received after the deadline will be placed at the end of the waiting list for any given class, in the order received, irrespective of the priorities above.

All new students shall be on probation for a period of one year to establish their academic ability, behavior, and ability to study in the Christian environment of Resurrection School.

Students will not be admitted or re-enrolled, who are functioning at an academic level two years below their grade.

Following the stated policy, decisions on admission shall be made by the school principal and pastor.

Students are admitted to Resurrection School based on the parents' understanding and acceptance that their children will be receiving a Catholic education that meets the mission and philosophies described within the Resurrection School handbook.
