How We Communicate:
Resurrection School recognizes parents as the primary educators of their children. The school fosters open communication with the parents through SchoolSpeak, email, and class newsletters. SchoolSpeak, a web portal, is the newest communication tool used by the school, teachers, administrators, and parents. Grades and homework in the upper grades, attendance, volunteer needs, athletic schedules, classroom announcements, family goal information, and room parent coordination is all handled through SchoolSpeak

The school administration also sends out weekly emails to the entire school community with an overview and reminders for the week to come. These are archived on-line for reference purposes. In an effort to be more cognizant of our environment, all flyers and announcements are posted on SchoolSpeak. In an effort to keep the school’s finances transparent to the school community, an annual report is distributed every year to all school families.

At Back-to-School Night parents are given an overview of the classroom and school policies. In the beginning of each school year, the parents receive the parent-student handbook, technology, library, and the Diocesan Harassment Policy. All of these forms are signed by both parent and student and returned.

Parent-Student-Teacher conferences are held at the middle of the first trimester. In middle school, each student leads the conference. In grades one through five, students attend the conference, which is led by the teacher. Student participation at the conference in JK and K is optional. Parents of students in grades 5-8 have access to the on-line grades through SchoolSpeak. Teachers update the grades every two weeks. In grades one through three, student progress reports are sent home midway through each trimester. At all grade levels, parents and teachers may request conferences as needed. Teachers in the primary grades prepare newsletters that are sent home weekly and/or monthly. Middle school teachers utilize SchoolSpeak to communicate to the parents of the entire class.

New parents and families are welcomed into the community with a New Parent Orientation, a summer buddy family, the Ice Cream Social just before school begins, and a mid-fall New Parent Coffee social. Families in the JK program are also invited to attend the Fall JK/Kindergarten Information Night as an opportunity to meet the Kindergarten teacher and hear first hand how smooth the transition from Junior Kindergarten to Kindergarten is both developmentally and academically.
