2013 - 2014 Sixth Grade Summer Reading Lists

All students entering the sixth grade are assigned summer reading.  There are two books to read.  The first book is required and the second is one that the students can choose from a given list.  The details of the two summer assignments follow.

Students can certainly read any of these books on an electronic device.  Books can also be borrowed from the public library, if available.  A copy of both books will be needed during the first two weeks of school  If your child will be reading these on an electronic device, please just drop me an email so that come August/September I will now to expect that device to come to school while we are working on the project.

I do hope that the selections below will pique the interest of all students.  Happy reading!
Mrs. Lee

Required Book:  Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech

  • This book is required and students should be prepared to complete a project about the book once we return to school in August.  While it is not necessary, it may be helpful to keep notes while reading.  Jot down information about the main characters, setting, problem in the story, etc.

            Student Book Choice:  Historical Fiction

  • Students should choose and read one book from the list below.  After reading the book, please complete the Book Report Form.  We will also do some work with the book when we return to school in August.  Please select a book you have not previously read.
