Transitional Kindergarten Program Overview

Resurrection School’s Transitional Kindergarten program is designed for children turning age 4 by September 1st of the year they enter the program. There are two schedule options:

Half Day Program: 8:00 AM – 12:15 PM Monday-Friday. Extended Care is available at 7:00 AM and after dismissal until 6:00 PM.
Full Day Program: 8:00 AM – 2:45 PM Monday-Friday with 12:15 PM dismissal on Wednesdays. Extended Care is available until 6:00 PM for an hourly fee.

The morning is filled with a multitude of centers and activities, including Free-Choice, Circle Time, Workshops and Recess. Circle time and workshops, (or small group instruction), in Religion, language arts, and math readiness are all incorporated into the weekly curriculum. Like the offerings for our older grades, physical education, Spanish, music, library, and computer time are also incorporated into the curriculum. The highly respected Handwriting Without Tears curriculum is taught, enhancing the language arts program.

Small or fine motor skills are developed as students learn how to hold crayons, chalk, colored pencils, use eye-droppers, tongs, and small manipulatives. Traditional and time-tested activities such as open-ended art, (arts & crafts), play dough, and easel painting are offered. Our intentionally planned environment which provides numerous age-appropriate centers such as the home corner, book center, writing table, small manipulatives area, puzzle center and the art center are provided to fully engage and enrich the classroom experience by enabling our students hours of discovery and exploration to stretch the imagination. 

Children in the Full Day program have lunch together followed by a rest period/nap, outside play and other activities. After dismissal at 2:45 PM, Extended Care is available until 6:00 PM.
