Mr. Lawrence Cummins

Physical Education Teacher
Has been teaching at Resurrection since: 2013
Education: Sports Management degree from Washington State University

Why did you choose to teach at Resurrection?

My company, Rhythm & Moves placed me here in 2013 and it has been better than I could have imagined.

Why do you enjoy teaching at Resurrection?

I enjoy teaching at Resurrection because of Mrs. Wright, the staff, teachers, students and parents. It is one big community. It is something I have never seen at any of the schools I have taught at before. The support from everyone is truly special, and since day one, everyone has made me feel right at home and as if I belonged.

What are your favorite moments with a student?

My favorite moments with students include them taking what I have taught them and applying it in class, having enough of a connection with me that they share stories and events from their daily lives and when they tell me how much they love PE!

What do you want your students to gain from having known you?

What I would like students to gain by knowing me is that I truly care about them and wish them success in the future. I want them to know everything was in their best interest and I want them to be able to take life lessons with them.

What interests you outside the classroom?

My interests are spending time with my family, my wife and my two remaining rabbits. My hobbies include watching college football, and even though I attended Washington State University, I have always been a huge USC football fan. My wife and I live and die every week with them. Other hobbies include sleeping, playing bocce ball and shuffleboard.

What is the most important life lesson you want your students to learn in your class?

The most important life lesson I want students to learn is nobody can make you feel inferior without your permission.
