Student in classroom - Resurrection School - Sunnyvale

Mrs. Anna Rodriguez

1st Grade Teacher
Has been teaching at Resurrection since: 2018

Why did you choose to teach at Resurrection?

I didn’t choose to teach as Resurrection, God called me here. I was driving down Hollenbeck Avenue one afternoon from having lunch with a friend. I just pulled into the parking lot, not knowing why. However, I felt an overwhelming feeling that I was supposed to teach here. A couple of months later I went on the website and saw that they needed a 1st grade teacher. I brought my application down the next day and the rest is history!.

What are your favorite moments with a student?

My favorite moment with a student is when they have the ”light bulb” moment. They have been struggling and just couldn’t get a concept, and are finally able to understand what I have been trying to convey.

What interests you outside the classroom?

In addition to loving my work as a teacher, I am an avid reader.  I love to listen to country music and to watch as many good movies as I can in my spare time. I also enjoy traveling. My favorite place to visit is New York.

What is the most important life lesson you want your students to learn in your class?

The most important life lesson my students will leave with is the gift of self esteem! Every child is special and they will always know they are important, loved, smart, and brilliant.
